Ben Haslam

The highlight of his career so far came on 26 June 2022 at Uttoxeter, where he landed a top-level race — one of the biggest prizes available in British racing. It remains his only Class 1 win to date, but the fact that he got there at all within his first two years of training says plenty about his ability to prepare a horse for a big occasion.

Perhaps the most telling numbers in Haslam's record involve the partnership with Yorkshire Glory. Together they have won 8 of their 26 races — nearly 1 in every 3. That is an exceptional ratio by any measure. When a trainer and a single horse click like that, it usually means the trainer has figured out exactly what that animal needs: the right trips, the right conditions, the right moments to run. It is the kind of relationship that defines a yard's identity in its early years.

His most frequent jockey is Andrew Mullen, and that partnership pays dividends too. Mullen has ridden 54 times for Haslam and they have combined for 11 winners — a win rate of around 1 in every 5 rides, which is genuinely strong. When a trainer and jockey work together that regularly and that successfully, it tends to mean they are on the same page about how races should be ridden.

Haslam also has a clear preference for normal ground conditions — not too wet, not too dry — where he wins 18 from 78 races, or roughly 1 in every 4. That is his sharpest edge anywhere in his record. Musselburgh in Scotland is a track worth watching too: 3 winners from 14 runners might not be a huge sample, but it hints at a trainer who knows the track and targets it intelligently.
