Passing Diamond

The horse clearly thrives on normal ground. On standard conditions, Passing Diamond has won 4 of its 8 races there—a 50 per cent win rate that stands out sharply. Switch to wetter or faster ground and the picture changes, which is useful information for anyone following its progress. Ben Haslam's Middleham Moor yard has been sending out winners all season (35 so far), and Passing Diamond has been one of the stable's success stories.

Hexham is where Passing Diamond belongs. The track appears to suit this horse perfectly: it has won 2 of its 3 races there, including its first career win on 2 May 2026. That record suggests a real affinity with the course. Most recent of all, Passing Diamond won at Cartmel earlier this week, on 29 August, which keeps the hot streak alive. One cautionary note: when stepped up to Class 4 company—the higher grade of racing—the horse has yet to win from 3 attempts. For now, at least, Passing Diamond looks like it belongs in slightly easier races on normal ground, ideally back at Hexham where it has shown it can deliver.
