Toca Madera is the market favourite but the numbers tell a brutal story: just 3 wins from 29 races and zero victories at this course despite five attempts. Running again after just seven days following a 16th place at York suggests either desperation or disrespect for the opposition—neither is encouraging.

Naana's Sparkle has the best win rate in the field at roughly one in three races and is one of only two runners to have won over this course and distance. A 2nd at Goodwood just 32 days ago followed by a win at Southwell shows genuine form, though the 11th place at York last time out suggests he didn't handle that track's demands.

Lexington Blitz is one of only two course winners here and has proven Class 2 credentials, but his 20-length defeat at York just 10 days ago is a massive red flag that cannot be ignored. The top-rated runner on paper is running out of excuses despite winning one in five at this level.

Trainer Quotes
May 2026
"He was second in the 3YO ‘Dash' at Epsom last year - he loves those Marmite tracks that a lot of other horses don't. Before he won at Goodwood last time we were quite keen to go for the Dash but we thought we'd better give him another run in case he doesn't get in at Epsom - he obviously will now, but with a much heftier weight (his rating went up 9lb to a mark of 97). But I think he is improving - he improved over the winter by being gelded and having a good break. He's consistent and has a good racing head on him and I wouldn't be surprised if he climbed a bit higher this year. He just looks an exciting animal this year - he has a high cruising speed and I think he has gears after that. He might be one worth following throughout the year - but if it isn't this year, it could well be next year that he reaches the dizzier heights of stakes company. He'd be my trainer's pick. 20-05-26"

All Ways Glamorous is the most consistent horse in the field, finishing in the money in 17 of her last 19 races with a perfect record on dry ground (3 wins from 8). She's in career-best form with two wins in her last six runs, though her recent 4th at Ascot suggests she's been tested at the highest level and may be vulnerable to fresher rivals here.
Dyonisos took just over four weeks to find his maiden win at Doncaster, but he's a complete novice at this level with only one career victory from 12 races and zero wins on good ground. His 9th here 32 days ago suggests he hasn't improved enough to threaten in a field of this calibre.

Kylian boasts the best record over five furlongs in the field (5 wins from 19 races at the trip) and has won Class 2 races recently on artificial surfaces. However, he carries a notable weakness: zero wins from nine attempts on fast, dry ground—exactly what he faces here—making his credentials for this particular race much less impressive.

Dream Composer has the pedigree—10 wins from 57 races including a proven win at this course—and carries the lowest weight in the field as an aging journeyman who understands Class 2 racing. At eight years old he's the most experienced runner here, but his recent form has dipped (4th at Windsor, 5th at Epsom) and he cannot handle the dry ground this race demands.

Democracy Dilemma has won 8 races from 48 attempts, but Goodwood is a course where he's zero from five—a significant pattern that works against the editorial case for him here. His recent 5th at Redcar showed he hasn't lost his winning touch in Class 2 company, but his inability to win on sharp-turning left-handed tracks is a serious concern at this course.

How do odds work? The first number is what you win, the second is what you bet. So 5/2 means you win £5 for every £2. 4/1 means you win £4 for every £1. The bigger the first number, the less likely bookmakers think the horse will win — but the more you'd win if it does.
