Where Kylian truly shines is on his day. He won a Class 1 race at Sandown back in July 2023, a career highlight that suggested he might be bound for bigger things. He is also a Newcastle specialist, having won two of his three starts there, and performs best on normal ground—winning 4 of 9 races in those conditions, a 44% win rate that stands out from his overall numbers. Luke Morris has ridden him three times, winning all three, which suggests the jockey understands what makes him tick. Trained by Robert Cowell at Newmarket, Kylian remains part of a yard that has been prolific this season with 24 winners already.

The puzzle is his recent form. He has not won in six consecutive races, including a couple of near-misses where he finished fourth and fifth. According to his trainer, he may simply be a slow learner who is still working things out through racing, and who could yet step up again on the right ground and in the right race—perhaps over six furlongs, a distance not yet fully tested. If the talent showed at Sandown two years ago is still there, he remains capable of turning in a big performance. For now, though, he is a horse with obvious ability but still searching for consistency.
