What these words mean
Underrated horse
We think this horse has a better chance than the bookmakers' odds suggest.
Our top pick
The horse with the highest TrackLab Score in the race.
TrackLab Score
Our model's estimate of a horse's chance of winning, as a number out of 100. The scores in a race add up to 100.
Ground
How the going was on the day, from Firm (hard and dry) to Heavy (very wet and muddy). On all-weather tracks it's Standard, Fast or Slow.
Race level (Class)
From Class 1 (elite) down to Class 7 (lowest).
Group, Grade and Listed
The top races. Group 1 on the Flat and Grade 1 over jumps are the highest level, then 2 and 3. Listed races sit just below.
Handicap
The handicapper gives better horses more weight to carry, so in theory they'd all finish together.
Maiden
A race for horses that haven't won yet.
Novice
A race for horses that are new to this type of race.
Chase, hurdle and bumper
Chase: jumps over fences. Hurdle: jumps over low hurdles. Bumper: a flat race for young jump horses.
Distance (m and f)
m is a mile and f a furlong, about 200 metres; 8 furlongs make a mile.
Each way
A bet that pays out if your horse wins or finishes in the top 3 (how far down it pays varies by race). It is really two bets.
Weight
How much the horse carries, including the jockey. 9st 5lb means nine stone five pounds.
Jockey claim
An apprentice jockey can claim a weight discount, so the horse carries a little less.
Headgear
Blinkers, visor, cheekpieces, tongue tie, hood and eyeshield change what the horse sees or feels.
−The jockey has not had many recent rides, so there is little recent form to go on.
TrackLab Insight
Eight races, zero wins, and crucially this horse has never raced on normal ground like today — making this something of an unknown quantity in a key area. The last run was a distant 20th at Fairyhouse, beaten almost 50 lengths, which is hard to look past regardless of conditions, even if earlier in the season a second place showed there's some ability there.

Why this score
−The jockey has not had many recent rides, so there is little recent form to go on.
TrackLab Insight
The market favourite at 4.0, and easy to see why on paper: nine years old, 29 races deep, and a horse that has been placed 16 times without finishing out of the frame entirely. The catch is that The Mediator has never won at the Curragh in five attempts — making this course something of a personal jinx — and on normal ground like today, the record shows zero wins from seven races.

Why this score
+With 47 races behind it, this horse knows what to expect. Experienced runners tend to cope better with pressure.
−The jockey has not had many recent rides, so there is little recent form to go on.
TrackLab Insight
The most experienced horse in the field by a distance — 47 races compared to a field average of 16 — and the only runner with a strong record at today's 1m 4f trip. The problem is stark: every single one of San Andreas's five career wins has come at Dundalk, and at the Curragh on normal ground the record reads zero wins from nine attempts on fast or normal conditions.

Why this score
−There is little recent data for The jockey. Without enough rides, it is hard to judge their form.
TrackLab Insight
The standout fact here is that Playtime has the best record of any runner in the field on today's normal ground conditions — winning 1 from 4 on comparable going, better than any rival. Second at Punchestown just 20 days ago, beaten a whisker, shows this Gordon Elliott-trained five-year-old is hitting a purple patch at exactly the right time.
−The jockey has not had many recent rides, so there is little recent form to go on.
TrackLab Insight
Trained by Gordon Elliott, the most prolific yard in Ireland, Spinola Bay has the best win rate in this field — winning roughly 1 in every 5 races — but those odds tell a story: drifting from 1.1 to 12.0 suggests confidence has evaporated since markets opened. A distant sixth last time out after five months off is hard to ignore, even if the form before that was solid.
−There is little recent data for The jockey. Without enough rides, it is hard to judge their form.
TrackLab Insight
The least experienced horse in this field with just 4 career races, Catalani arrives here on the back of a win at Down Royal just 53 days ago — the most recent winner in the field. That inexperience cuts both ways: there's clearly upside to explore, but a fall at Thurles earlier in the season is a reminder that the journey hasn't always been smooth.

Why this score
−Not enough recent rides for The jockey to judge their form. That is not good or bad news.
TrackLab Insight
One win from 14 races — roughly 1 in every 14 outings — and that win came at a shorter trip than today's 1m 4f, where the data suggests this horse is less comfortable. Finishing 14th last time at Limerick, beaten over 12 lengths, gives little encouragement, and a clean record of zero wins on both normal and fast ground points to real doubts about today's conditions.
−There is little recent data for The jockey. Without enough rides, it is hard to judge their form.
TrackLab Insight
Two wins from 18 races is a modest return, but both those wins came on very soft, almost muddy ground — and today's normal conditions are exactly the type the record says this horse struggles on, with zero wins from five races in similar conditions. A run of 5th, 3rd, 2nd in the last three is consistent without being exciting, and at 29.0 the market isn't convinced.

Why this score
−Not enough recent rides for The jockey to judge their form. That is not good or bad news.
TrackLab Insight
The longest-absent horse in the field, not having raced for 394 days — that's over a year off the track — and returning with just one win from 21 career races, which is roughly 1 in every 21 attempts. Horses returning from that length of absence rarely hit top form immediately, and a zero wins record on fast or normal ground doesn't help the case here.
+J. Andrew Fahey wins 5.2% of all their races. That is a solid record. Good trainers get horses ready well and pick the right races.
−Not enough recent rides for The jockey to judge their form. That is not good or bad news.
TrackLab Insight
Three wins from 27 races and a recent run of six straight finishes outside the top three suggest this nine-year-old is in a rough patch of form right now. The most recent start — a fourth at Downpatrick just 13 days ago — was a step back in the right direction, but zero wins from seven races on normal ground is a genuine concern for today.

TrackLab Insight
One of the fancied runners at 10.0, Nancee Spain has a decent win record at longer distances — 17% at 1m 6f to 2m — which bodes well for today's 1m 4f test. The worry is that her last two runs have been a modest 8th and 5th, and her only win came on soft ground rather than today's normal conditions, which her record shows as winless from three attempts.
−Not enough recent rides for The jockey to judge their form. That is not good or bad news.
TrackLab Insight
Zero wins from seven career races, but Garnetot has the advantage of being trained by Gordon Elliott — the same yard responsible for several fancied runners in this field — and is relatively lightly raced for a five-year-old, suggesting there may be more to come. A 14th at Cork last time followed by an unknown result at Downpatrick just 13 days ago offers little solid form to cling to.
+This type of ground has not suited the horse: 3 runs without much success. Some horses prefer different ground.
−There is little recent data for The jockey. Without enough rides, it is hard to judge their form.
TrackLab Insight
Zero wins from five career races and running again just seven days after finishing 12th at Limerick, beaten nearly 15 lengths — this is a horse that has shown very little so far and is being asked to turn it around on a very quick turnaround. With the lowest official rating in the field, Limbocall faces a steep task against more established rivals.
+Has raced 3 times on this ground with a low win rate. Today's ground may not suit it.
−Not enough recent rides for The jockey to judge their form. That is not good or bad news.
TrackLab Insight
One win from 22 career races — roughly 1 in every 22 outings — but eight placed finishes show a horse that competes consistently without winning. The entire win record comes on good-to-yielding ground, whereas today's normal conditions fall outside that comfort zone, and a third at Downpatrick 13 days ago is the most encouraging recent sign in otherwise patchy form.
+Has raced 4 times on this ground with a low win rate. Today's ground may not suit it.
−Not enough recent rides for The jockey to judge their form. That is not good or bad news.
TrackLab Insight
A massive outsider at 126.0, and with good reason: this horse pulled up last time out, hasn't raced in nine months, and is returning from a break that followed one of the worst results a horse can have. There are two career wins on record and the form on yielding ground is genuinely decent, but this feels like a fitness exercise rather than a winning opportunity.

TrackLab Insight
Ten races, zero wins, zero placed finishes — Elman is the only horse in this field with a completely blank career record, and recent form of a fall followed by an 11th place at the Curragh makes it hard to build a case. The standout marker notes placed runs in the last three races, but the raw data doesn't support that, so there's limited information to work with here.
Each way is two equal bets. Half your total goes on the horse to win. Half goes on it to finish in the top 3.
If it wins, both bets pay.
If it finishes 2nd or 3rd, only the top-3 part pays. Some races pay 4th or 5th too, and some only 2nd. The top-3 part pays a fraction of the win odds, often 1/4 or 1/5.
Otherwise, both bets lose.

How odds work
The first number is what you win, the second is what you bet. 5/2 means you win £5 for every £2. 4/1 means you win £4 for every £1.
The bigger the first number, the less likely bookmakers think the horse will win, but the more you'd win if it does.
A small first number (like 8/13) means bookmakers think the horse is more likely to win. At 8/13, £13 wins £8. Evens means £1 wins £1.
