Trained by Andrew Kinirons at Newbridge in County Kildare, Western Model has had a solid run recently. His last six races tell the story of a horse still competing — a third, second, fourth, then a win at Roscommon on 6 July 2026, followed by two more placed finishes. That Roscommon victory three months ago, his second career win, came after his first success at Punchestown in May 2024. The gaps between his wins tell you he is not a prolific scorer, but when conditions align, he gets the job done.
Sean O'Keeffe has ridden him most often, aboard for ten races and steering him to one victory. The pairing has run hot and cold, as these things do in racing, but Western Model's recent form suggests he remains a live competitor. With his trainer's yard having sent out six winners this season, there is clearly good form at Newbridge. Western Model, active just yesterday, is clearly a horse the yard still believes in — a testament to his attitude and his occasional ability to remind the yard why they sent him out in the first place.
