Sea Master

Those two wins have both come over longer distances — between a mile and six furlongs and two miles — where Sea Master has won 2 of his 15 races at that trip, a 13% win rate compared to just 7% overall. For a horse who races at the lower end of the sport's class structure, finding his best form when there's real ground to cover is a useful weapon. Stamina is something you can rely on. Sea Master, it turns out, relies on it heavily.

Ruth Carr, who trains out of Stillington in North Yorkshire, has had a productive season — 63 winners and counting — and Sea Master has contributed to that tally twice. The first win came at Hamilton Park in July 2025. The second, and most recent, landed at Beverley just this week, on 15 April 2026. Back-to-back wins within the same season for a horse with this kind of overall record is genuinely significant. It suggests something has clicked.

James Sullivan has been the regular jockey for much of Sea Master's career, partnering him in 7 of his 25 races and winning once together — roughly 1 in every 7 rides. That's modest on paper, but the combination has clearly been part of working out what this horse needs. Recent form backs that up: in his last six races Sea Master has finished first, seventh, sixth, second, fourth, and second — so two wins and two runner-up finishes in the last half-dozen outings. For a horse that spent much of his career in the places without converting, that's a real change of gear.

Whether he can keep the momentum going remains to be seen. But a horse who has just won, is currently active, and has figured out where and when he runs his best race is worth keeping an eye on.
