The most compelling thing about Reigning Profit is what he does at Ripon. He has run there three times and won all three — a perfect record at the North Yorkshire track that is frankly extraordinary. Most horses develop preferences, but a 100% record over multiple visits is something else entirely. He underlined it just last week, winning there on 6 July 2026, with jockey James Sullivan reporting that the horse broke fast, travelled powerfully through the race, and was only starting to tire near the line. That is a horse who knows exactly where he is and what he is doing. On normal ground, he is particularly dangerous — 4 wins from 14 races, converting at 29%, which means he wins nearly 1 in 3 on a standard surface.

Ruth Carr, who trains him at her yard in Stillington in North Yorkshire, has been quietly building a strong season — 56 winners sent out this term alone. She has spoken warmly about Reigning Profit as one of those horses who simply delivers. He won three times last year, and came within a neck of winning a prestigious sprint at Ascot in July 2024, beaten in a photo finish at one of British racing's most famous tracks. Carr believes he is still capable off his current mark despite some bad luck in running earlier this year.

Their combined win rate of 14% mirrors the horse's career average almost exactly, suggesting Sullivan knows how to get the best from him.
