Mudamer

The most striking thing about Mudamer is what he does at Catterick Bridge. From three races at the track, he has won twice — a 67% win rate that marks him out as something close to a specialist. For a horse of his modest overall win rate, that kind of dominance at one course is the sort of detail that catches a trainer's eye when the entries open. He won his first race at Killarney in August 2022, and his most recent victory came just this week at Beverley on 22 September 2026, which shows he remains genuinely competitive. Trained by Geoffrey Harker at Thirkleby in North Yorkshire, Mudamer typically races in Class 4 company, where he has won 2 of 18 starts — a win rate of about 11%, very close to his overall mark.

Recent form tells a mixed story. His last six runs read 1-7-3-6-11-3, meaning his win came first, then a placed finish, then another placement — so he is not entirely out of form, but he is not stringing together the kind of runs that suggest a hot streak. Sam James, his most regular jockey, has ridden him eleven times and won once together, so there is no obvious chemistry there. Still, Mudamer is active enough to suggest his trainer sees something worth pursuing, and at seven years old, a horse with his consistency can keep winning into double figures yet.
