Another Investment

Trainer Nigel Tinkler, based in Langton in North Yorkshire, describes Another Investment as moody and particular about his conditions. The horse is genuinely dangerous on fast, dry ground—he wins roughly 1 in every 5.5 races (2 wins from 11) when the surface is quick—but those opportunities do not come around often enough. Tinkler also notes that Another Investment wants a proper galloping pace over six furlongs and would really prefer seven furlongs, yet races at that distance rarely unfold at the speed he needs to show his best. He has raced fourteen times at York, his spiritual home, and won twice there, but cannot quite convert his obvious affection for the track into consistent results. At Class 4 level, where he typically competes, he has won twice from thirty attempts.

Recently, at York, Tinkler observed that the pace of the race—fast and sustained—suited Another Investment perfectly, allowing him to stay on when others faded. It is a snapshot of what this horse can do on his day: hang in when others crack. At seven years old and still active, he remains a useful handicap option for anyone patient enough to wait for the ground to firm up and the fractions to fall his way.
