Zaraquelle

Trained by Ed Dunlop out of Newmarket, Zaraquelle is in capable hands. Dunlop's yard has sent out 39 winners already this season, which speaks to a stable in strong form and confident about the horses it runs. Newmarket is one of the heartbeats of British racing, and horses coming out of that environment tend to be well-prepared and professionally campaigned.

The challenge now is converting consistent placings into a first win. Zaraquelle typically competes at Class 4 level — the middle tier of British racing, competitive enough that you cannot simply turn up and collect — and has finished in the top three in three of its last four races without quite getting over the line. That pattern of being there or thereabouts without winning is one of the more frustrating things in racing, but it also means the horse is racing at a level that suits it and is genuinely competitive. Having raced just yesterday, Zaraquelle is clearly an active, busy campaign horse right now, and with form trending upward at the right moment in the season, a first win feels less like a question of if and more like a question of when.
