Torcello

The standout fact about Torcello is his record over longer distances. When the race stretches beyond two miles, he wins about a quarter of the time — 1 win from 4 races — which is a much healthier return than his overall record suggests. This is a horse that appreciates room to run and time to settle into a rhythm. His wins tell the same story: his first career victory came at Goodwood on 10 October 2021 in a Class 2 race, and he added his most recent win at Haydock Park on 21 May 2026, just four months ago. Both are courses that suit his style.

Where Torcello struggles is in the higher class races. Competing at Class 2 level — the top tier of British racing — he has won just once in 12 attempts, an 8 percent return. This tells you he has found his ceiling. His recent form, however, has been indifferent: two eighth-place finishes sandwiched around a sixth, an eleventh and two more elevenths in his last six outings. At 12 years old with a win rate of just 16 percent, Torcello is a survivor rather than a star, but his longevity in the sport and his occasional bright moments at distance racing give him a story worth following.
