What makes Box To Box slightly puzzling is the gap since its last victory. That win came at Haydock Park on 21 June 2025 — nearly 16 months ago — yet the horse is still racing actively. In its last six outings it has not won, finishing with a run just yesterday that saw it trailing home in mid-field. The form reads 5-5-6-2-2-12, which shows decent placings earlier in the sequence but is now drifting away. It also performs much better on normal ground, winning at 44 per cent when conditions are standard, compared to its overall record. Trainer Hugo Palmer's yard at Malpas in Cheshire has been prolific this season with 67 winners, but Box To Box has not been among them recently. At Class 2 level — one of the top tiers of racing — the horse has managed just 1 win from 12 races, which tells you it struggles against the best opposition. For now, Box To Box remains useful at Chester and modest elsewhere: a horse that has had its day at the very top but can still find a race to win if conditions and company align.
