The ground makes a real difference to this horse. Most horses win fewer than 1 in 10 on any given surface type, so converting 2 from 3 suggests these conditions genuinely unlock something in the horse. If the ground is right, it becomes a different proposition altogether.

That said, the current run of form gives the trainer something to think about. Beyond Borders hasn't won in its last six races, with finishing positions of 7th, 8th, 10th, 19th, 6th, and 7th — nothing disastrous, but nothing threatening the winner's enclosure either. The last win came at Great Yarmouth in June 2025, now ten months ago. A horse that was winning 1 in 4 races has now gone six straight without troubling the judge, and that kind of sequence raises questions about whether form has dipped, the competition has stepped up, or whether the right race simply hasn't come along yet.

Kevin Frost's yard at Averham Park in Nottinghamshire has sent out 23 winners this season, which shows the operation is in decent health overall. The fact that Beyond Borders raced just yesterday and remains active means the team clearly hasn't given up on finding the right opportunity. With the right ground and a drop back to familiar surroundings, a return to winning form wouldn't be a surprise — but six races without a win is a streak that needs breaking sooner rather than later.
