The highlight so far came on 30 December 2025, when Scholfield won a Class 1 race at Taunton — one of the top races in Britain. Landing a race at that level in your first few months of training is no small thing. It signals that this isn't a yard quietly finding its feet with modest horses; Scholfield arrived competing at the sharp end.

Two horses and tracks are already worth watching closely. Junior Des Mottes has won 2 of the 6 races the pair have contested together, which is a productive partnership by any measure. And at Fakenham, Scholfield has sent out 3 winners from just 5 runners — that kind of record at a specific track suggests a trainer who understands how to place horses well and arrive prepared. Three from five anywhere is good; at a track you've only visited a handful of times, it's striking.

His most regular jockey, Jack Quinlan, has ridden 18 times for the yard and won 4 of them — roughly 1 in every 4 or 5 rides. That's a solid working relationship, and the consistency of that combination will be worth following as the yard grows. When a trainer and jockey are clicking from the early stages, it often means they're communicating well about how horses are working at home.

The caveat, of course, is that this is still a very small sample — a few months of results rather than years. But the numbers so far point to a trainer who is organised, ambitious, and already operating at the highest level of the sport. If Scholfield can maintain anything close to 1 winner in every 5 runners over a full season, he will quickly become one of the more talked-about names in the training ranks.
