Two wins in six races is a 33% win rate, which is the kind of form that makes trainers start circling dates on the calendar. The first of those wins came at Windsor in early May 2026, and the second followed just eight days later at York, one of the most prestigious and demanding tracks in Britain. Going to York and winning is not something ordinary horses do casually. It suggests Zarathos is genuinely improving and finding its feet at exactly the right time.

What makes the career picture a little puzzling is that Zarathos has run eight times at Class 5 level — the lower end of the racing ladder — and has not won once at that grade, despite being clearly capable of winning. Both victories have come as the horse has stepped up and found a context that suits it. That is an unusual pattern and one worth watching.

The horse is trained by Dylan Cunha, based in Newmarket, which is the heartland of British racing — a town where serious horsepeople take their craft seriously. Cunha's yard has sent out 45 winners this season alone, which tells you this is not a small operation making up the numbers. Zarathos is one of many winners coming out of that stable, but it has earned its place in the conversation.

Crucially, Zarathos raced just yesterday and is firmly in the middle of an active campaign. When a horse is winning at a track like York, running consistently, and sitting inside a high-performing yard, you pay attention. Whatever this horse is becoming, it appears to be happening right now.
