The horse shows genuine promise on both extremes of ground conditions, which is unusual. On fast, dry ground he wins about 1 in every 5 or 6 races (2 wins from 11), and he actually does slightly better on wet, muddy ground, where he has won 2 from 8 races — a 25% win rate. This versatility gives him options throughout the year, though he hasn't yet figured out how to consistently win at Class 4 level, managing only 1 win from 19 races in that sphere.

His recent form suggests he remains competitive. Over his last six races he has finished 2nd, then won, then 4th, 4th, 3rd and 3rd — a pattern of occasional success mixed with plugging away at lower placings. That win came three weeks ago at Catterick Bridge on 30 September, his most recent victory. David Allan, his most regular partner, has ridden him 23 times and won twice together, a working relationship that shows they understand each other reasonably well even if the results don't leap out. Tim Easterby's powerful yard at Great Habton, which has sent out 128 winners this season, continues to campaign him regularly. For a horse with limited resources but real willingness, Vince Le Prince represents exactly the kind of honest performer that keeps racing moving — not star quality, but genuine enough to win his share of races.
