Vault Of Heaven

The recent record makes for tough reading. Looking back over the last six races, the best result is a third place, sandwiched between finishes of fifth, ninth, fourteenth, and eleventh. That kind of yo-yo form — a decent effort here, a disappointing one there — suggests a horse that can find its rhythm on a good day but isn't doing it consistently. Racing predominantly at Class 6, the lowest tier of British racing, Vault Of Heaven has drawn a blank in all seven races at that level. When a horse can't win at the easiest grade available, questions naturally arise about whether a win is coming at all.

That said, the yard it calls home is very much in form. Kevin Frost's operation at Averham Park has sent out 25 winners this season, which speaks to a stable that knows how to get a horse ready to perform. Vault Of Heaven having not yet contributed to that tally isn't for lack of professional support. It raced just yesterday, which at least confirms it's fit, active, and being given every opportunity.

At four years old, it isn't ancient — there's theoretically time to turn things around. But with no wins and a recent run of form that includes a fourteenth-place finish, the honest assessment is that this horse has a lot to prove. Sometimes a horse just finds the right race at the right moment and everything clicks. Vault Of Heaven is still looking for that moment.
