Jockey Jason Watson has stuck with the horse through ten of those races together and is still waiting for a first win between them. That kind of loyalty from a rider is notable, but ten races without a win is a long run of near-misses. Valsharah typically competes at Class 5, which is the bread-and-butter level of British racing — not the big occasions, but competitive enough that winning is never a formality. Nine races at that level and still no victory suggests this is a horse that tends to find one or two too good on the day.

Trainer Michael Appleby, based in Oakham, Rutland, is clearly no stranger to winners — his yard has sent out 79 of them this season alone, which is a seriously productive operation. The fact that Valsharah hasn't added to that tally despite 24 attempts isn't a reflection on the trainer; some horses simply take time, and some never quite get there. Valsharah raced just one day ago, so whatever comes next is imminent. The question is whether that elusive first win is still around the corner, or whether six places from 24 races is simply what this horse does.
