Those Kempton wins are not small beer either. Both the January 2024 victory and the more recent March 2025 success came in Class 2 races — among the better contests you will find in British racing outside the very top tier. Winning that level once might be fortunate. Winning it twice at the same track, over a year apart, suggests a horse that genuinely belongs in decent company. The first career win came at Newcastle in March 2022, and a Class 2 success at Newmarket followed in May 2023 — so across the career, five wins from 38 races (roughly 1 in every 8) have been spread across some of the sport's more competitive stages.

The partnership with Oisin Murphy is one of the more striking numbers in the file. In eight races together, Murphy has ridden Teumessias Fox to three wins — a win rate of 38%, or almost 2 in every 5 rides. For context, the horse's overall win rate is 13%. That gap is enormous, and it suggests Murphy has found a way of getting the best out of this horse that others have not quite managed.

Trained by Andrew Balding at Kingsclere in Hampshire, Teumessias Fox is part of one of British racing's most productive yards — 202 winners sent out this season alone. The horse has not won in its last six races, and form figures of blank, third, fifth, third, seventh and ninth suggest it has been finding life a little harder lately. But the last win came as recently as March 2025 — fifteen months ago is not an eternity for a horse still active and still competing at Class 2 level. When Kempton comes around again, on a soft day, with Murphy in the saddle, the smart money knows what this horse is capable of.
