Super Hit

Those three career wins have all come at distances between seven furlongs and a mile, where Super Hit has won 3 of 16 races — nearly 1 in 5, which is a far better record than its overall numbers suggest. The horse simply finds its best self at that trip. It competes mostly at Class 5 level, which sits towards the lower end of the racing ladder, and has won 3 of its 20 races there — 15%, or about 1 in 7. Not spectacular, but consistent enough to keep it competitive.

The partnership with jockey Marco Ghiani is worth noting. In five races together they have won twice — a 40% win rate, or 2 from 5, which is an outstanding return at any level. When those two line up together, something tends to click.

Super Hit is five years old and very much still active — it raced just yesterday. The most recent win came at Thirsk on 22 April 2025, and the six races since have produced no victories: a sequence that reads 3-2-7-2-6-7 from that point forward. The placings are still coming in — three finishes of second or third in the last six runs — so this isn't a horse that has fallen off a cliff. It's finding places, just not the winner's enclosure right now. James Owen's yard has been in excellent form this season, sending out 204 winners, so Super Hit is part of a setup that clearly knows how to get horses ready to win. The question is simply whether it can turn those near-misses back into a victory, ideally somewhere it has already proved it can deliver.
