Signcastle City

Most of its racing has come at Class 4 level — the bread-and-butter middle tier of the British racing calendar — and it has genuinely thrived there, winning 4 of its 19 races at that level, which works out at roughly 1 in every 5. That is a solid return, and it suggests Richard Hannon's team have found the right grade for this horse to be competitive rather than simply making up the numbers. Hannon, based at Herridge in Wiltshire, is one of the most prolific trainers in the country right now — his yard has sent out 113 winners already this season, so Signcastle City is operating in professional, well-resourced hands.

The horse opened its account at Salisbury back in July 2022 and most recently won at Chelmsford just six weeks ago, in February 2026. That Chelmsford win is worth noting: all-weather tracks like Chelmsford keep racing through the winter when grass tracks are closed, and winning there shows a horse that stays in form and fit regardless of season. It is not a flashy trophy, but it is evidence of a horse still doing its job.

Recent form reads 4-–-1-2-7-6, with the most recent race first. That solo win sitting in the middle of the sequence, sandwiched by a second and a fourth, is encouraging — this horse has not gone off the boil since Chelmsford. The seventh and sixth earlier in that sequence are less impressive, but six-race sequences always have ups and downs.

One curiosity worth flagging: regular jockey Alec Voikhansky has partnered Signcastle City five times without landing a win together. That is not necessarily damning — racing partnerships take time, and the horse has won with others in the saddle — but it is a pattern any keen observer would note. With the horse currently active and in reasonable form, another race is likely not far away.
