That sole win came at Roscommon on 1 September 2025, and it remains the defining moment of Sea Lantern's career so far. Roscommon is a sharp, tight track in the west of Ireland that tends to reward horses with quick footwork and a competitive temperament — so winning there is no fluke. The recent form reading 3-1-3 suggests a horse that has been in and around the action, even if the victories haven't quite followed.
Sea Lantern is trained by Brian Ellison, who operates out of Norton in North Yorkshire. Ellison's yard has been in fine form, sending out 47 winners already this season — a volume that speaks to a well-organised, confident operation. When a trainer is firing in winners at that rate, the horses in the yard tend to be fit, placed intelligently, and given every chance to perform. Sea Lantern is very much in good hands.
Still only four years old and currently active, there is every reason to think the best is still ahead. Three races is a small sample — some horses take time to find their rhythm, and a horse that already knows how to win has a significant head start on those that haven't.
