Southwell is where Sax Appeal comes alive. Three wins from just 7 races at that track is a genuinely striking number — nearly 1 in every 2 visits ends in victory, which is almost unheard of when you consider that most horses win perhaps 1 race in 5 across their whole career. The first of those wins came on 18 January 2023, and the most recent was on 28 December 2025. That's a horse that keeps coming back to a track and keeps delivering. Whether it's the surface, the shape of the course, or simply a place where everything clicks, Southwell clearly suits this horse in a way few tracks suit any horse.

The stable sending it out is no small operation. Charlie Johnston's yard has fired out 128 winners already this season, making it one of the most productive training operations in the country.
