Rousing Encore

The horse is a course specialist at Ayr, where he has won twice in six races, including a victory just over a year ago on 30 September 2025. His trainer Ruth Carr, based at Stillington in North Yorkshire, has been building her season well with 56 winners so far, and Rousing Encore is among her reliable performers. He seems to thrive over six furlongs on faster ground — his two Class 2 wins came at York and Pontefract, and Carr noted after his York victory that the horse "put his head down and battled well" when jockey James Sullivan rode him cleverly, edging onto the rail to find cover on a fast track.

Sullivan has partnered Rousing Encore in 26 races, winning 3 of them (12%), and rode him impressively on a recent stable visit when Carr identified him as her pick for the yard. The horse ran with real promise at Newcastle earlier in his career, beaten only by Power Fizz, a horse trained by William Haggas who looks destined for even bigger contests. That run hints at Rousing Encore's ceiling — a genuine Class 2 horse rather than an elite performer, but one capable of delivering on fast ground over his pet distance. His recent form has gone cold; he hasn't won in his last six races, though he did place twice in that spell. At six years old and still actively racing, he remains a useful servant for the yard.
