The six-year-old is trained by Eve Johnson Houghton at her yard in Blewbury, Oxfordshire, and the operation is in good form this season — 42 winners and counting. Johnson Houghton knows what she has in Robusto: a horse that competes honestly and is worth persevering with. That attitude was tested recently when Robusto banged a joint and needed time off the track. He had gone four consecutive races without a win after his Kempton victory last July, posting a string of placed efforts that suggested the wins were still in there somewhere. They were right — he broke through again at Wolverhampton in April 2026.

When Luke Morris is in the saddle, things tend to go particularly well. The pair have won 2 of their 6 races together — winning roughly 1 in every 3, which is a significantly better return than Robusto's overall career average of roughly 1 in every 6.5 races. That is not a coincidence, and it is the kind of partnership worth paying attention to.

Lingfield Park is where Robusto has made his mark most clearly. Two wins from six races there makes it his happiest hunting ground — not just in terms of results but suggesting the track itself suits something about how he moves and races. Most of his career has been spent at Class 4 level, which represents the bread-and-butter middle tier of British racing, and winning there only once from 19 attempts at that grade underlines how competitive those races are. His overall record of 15 wins in every 100 races — roughly 1 in every 6 — is respectable at that level without being flashy.

He raced just yesterday, so Robusto is clearly very much in the thick of things. A horse in the care of a yard firing on all cylinders, with a trusted jockey who brings out his best, and a track he genuinely loves still within reach — there is every reason to think his tally of six career wins is not the final number.
