At a distance of around a mile and three or four furlongs, same story: 2 wins from 6. Those two filters overlap neatly, and they point to a horse that is not a generalist throwing itself at every situation, but one with a specific, repeatable sweet spot. Get the conditions right, and it becomes a different animal.

Nowhere is that clearer than at Dundalk, the Irish all-weather track that runs year-round under floodlights. Quatre Bras has won 2 of its 6 races there — that 33% figure again — and its most recent victory came at Dundalk in November 2025, just eight months ago. For comparison, plenty of racehorses go their entire careers without finding a track that suits them this well. Dundalk is Quatre Bras's home patch, and the record there carries real weight.

Still, there are honest questions to ask. The horse has not won in its last six races, the most recent form reading 4-4-8-–-11-4. That is a mix of placed efforts and the odd disappointing run, suggesting a horse that is competitive without quite getting its head in front. Richard John O'Brien's yard in Ballingarry, Co Limerick, has sent out five winners this season and will know this horse's rhythms well. The trainer's job now is threading the needle — finding the right race, at the right track, on the right surface.

Quatre Bras raced just yesterday, so it is clearly fit and active. Whether another crack at Dundalk, on a normal surface, over its preferred trip, can produce a fourth career win is the live question. Based on everything the record tells us, that combination is exactly where you would want to be watching.
