Two wins from three races there makes it about as close to a course specialist as you will find at this level, and its most recent victory came there just two weeks ago on 24 June 2026. Something about that track — the undulations, the turns, the way races are run — clearly suits the way Priapos moves and settles. Its first career win also came on 24 June 2024, exactly two years earlier, which is a curious quirk of fate. Priapos also has a clear preference for distances around seven furlongs to a mile, winning 2 of its 4 races at that trip, and normal ground suits it well, with a remarkable 2 wins from just 4 races on a standard surface — a 50% win rate that dwarfs its record elsewhere.

One slight puzzle is its partnership with Rossa Ryan, its most regular jockey, who has ridden it five times without a single win. That is not necessarily a knock on either horse or rider — racing partnerships can simply take time to click, or the pair may have met on the wrong days — but it is worth noting that Priapos has clearly found its best form with someone else in the saddle. Trainer Phillip Makin, based in Easingwold in North Yorkshire, has sent out 9 winners this season, and his yard clearly knows how to place a horse. Priapos raced just yesterday and remains in active training, so there is every chance Makin will be tempted back to Carlisle while the horse is in form. Two wins from its last six races — including that Carlisle success a fortnight ago — tells you this horse is very much in a good moment right now.
