Tom Cannon has ridden him seven times, winning once, a partnership that underscores Nap Hand's status as a consistent rather than dominant performer.

What is genuinely interesting about Nap Hand is the trainer's willingness to experiment. The recent form sheet shows a horse bouncing between places and minor placings, but the yard has tested him over a mile and a quarter on heavy, muddy ground at Newbury and believes he could develop into something useful over hurdles if he can handle the longer trips involved. The fact that he has been schooled over jumps and performed creditably on the Flat at extended distances suggests a horse with genuine versatility, even if the results have been modest so far. For a horse earning modest prize money in the lower divisions, keeping options open — Flat racing or hurdles — is a sensible approach.
