The key, it turned out, was getting him to race prominently, letting his natural strength do the work in the closing stages. Once that penny dropped, things moved quickly. Mirsky backed it up with a win at Epsom Downs on 6 June 2025 — a Class 2 race, which puts it among the better contests in Britain. That prompted O'Meara to float the idea of the Hunt Cup, one of the most competitive mile races of the flat season.

What makes Mirsky particularly interesting is his record at Thirsk specifically. He has won 2 of his 3 races there, which is a remarkable return at a single track — for context, his overall win rate is 3 wins from 17 races, roughly 1 in every 6.
