Involvement

The career arc is genuinely interesting. Involvement got off the mark at Redcar in September 2023, a relatively modest starting point, but within ten months it had won a Class 2 race at Newmarket's July course — one of the most prestigious tracks in the country, where the ground is typically fast and dry in summer and the fields are rarely short of quality. Winning there marks a horse out as something above average, and Involvement delivered exactly that on 12 July 2024. Most recently, it won at Meydan in March 2026, which suggests a horse comfortable travelling and performing on an international stage — that is not something every horse can claim.

The recent run of form tells a slightly more complicated story: in its last six races, reading from most recent, it has finished 3rd, 6th, 4th, 1st, 11th, and 5th. The 11th is the one blot — a genuine off-day — but otherwise the pattern is of a horse that consistently finishes close to the podium without always getting there. At Class 2 level, which is where it typically competes, it has won 1 from 5 races, a 20% win rate. In races of that quality, that is a perfectly respectable record — these are not soft fields.

Involvement is trained by Simon and Ed Crisford at their Newmarket yard, one of the most productive operations in British racing right now. The yard has sent out 78 winners already this season, which speaks to a team that knows how to place horses well and keep them in form. With Involvement having raced just one day ago and still active, this is a horse at the height of its season — and given what it has already achieved at the top end of the sport, there is every reason to watch what it does next.
