Insuspense

Trained by Ross Burdon at Newmarket, Insuspense competes almost exclusively in Class 5 races, the lower rungs of racing where the gaps between horses are tight and a win is hard-won. She has managed just one victory in her seven Class 5 attempts, which tells you she is not a natural in that grade. Her last six races paint a picture of a horse struggling to find her rhythm: two second-place finishes bookended by a run of seventh, fifth, and third-place efforts, with her winning run squeezed into that sequence. She raced again just a day ago, staying active in the yard's rotation. Burdon's yard has sent out twelve winners this season, so Insuspense sits in a stable with reasonable form, though he himself remains very much a work in progress—the kind of honest horse who gives everything but rarely finishes ahead of his rivals.
