Indemnity

The key to Indemnity is ground and distance. On normal conditions he has won 5 of his last 10 races — exactly half. That is not a coincidence, that is a preference, and it is the kind of stat that makes a difference when you are deciding when to run him. Stretch him out to between a mile and six furlongs and two miles and he wins half his races there too, 2 from 4. He is a horse who tells you exactly what he needs, and when he gets it, he delivers. Jockey James Doyle said after his first career win at Nottingham in June 2024 that he sees Indemnity as a horse for competitive races where the pace is honest and he can pick off rivals late — and that reading of him has proven accurate.

Harry Cobden, who knows him well from five rides together, has won on him twice, a rate of 40% — winning 2 in every 5 times they partner up. That is a meaningful relationship. Emma Lavelle noted last November that Indemnity had physically grown into himself since the previous season and — crucially — that she believes a sharp, fast track like Kempton or Aintree might actually suit him better than somewhere more galloping, because he has genuine pace. His most recent win came at Plumpton in April 2026, and he raced just yesterday, so this is very much a horse in the middle of an active campaign.

His recent form reads 2-10-1-4-3-2 — a win sandwiched between several near-misses. That tenth-place finish stands out as the exception, not the rule. For a horse who competes mostly at Class 4 level and wins a third of those races, Indemnity is doing exactly what a smart, consistent racehorse should do: showing up, staying competitive, and winning when conditions suit.
