The horse seems to have found its level at smaller races but has yet to break through in stronger company — it has failed to win in seven attempts at Class 5 level. What matters, though, is that the horse is active and improving. Two of its last six races have been victories, and it raced just a day ago, suggesting trainer David O'Meara, who runs a prolific yard in North Yorkshire with 101 winners this season, is keeping Hostility in work and finding the right opportunities.

Ground conditions also suit: Hostility wins roughly 1 in every 6 races on normal ground, but that record at Carlisle suggests the track itself is the real key. When this horse knows the course and the conditions align, it runs well. Hostility may never be a star, but it is a horse that understands what it does best and does it consistently.
