Hosanna Power

That one career win came at Newbury back in May 2024, now more than two years ago, and it remains the defining moment of this horse's career so far. Since then, Hosanna Power has gone six races without finding the winner's enclosure, and the recent form figures — 9th, a blank run, then 13th, 13th, 12th, 13th — make for uncomfortable reading. Finishing in the teens consistently suggests the horse is currently struggling to land a blow at its level.

The distance range of one mile three furlongs to one mile four furlongs is clearly where the team feels it belongs — 13 of its 24 races have come over those trips. It has won once from those 13 outings, an 8% record, which is modest but represents all the success it has had. Regular partner David Allan has ridden it five times without a win between them, and trainer D Broad, based at Summerhill in County Meath, has had just one winner from the yard this season. This is not a horse firing from a yard in flying form.

Racing yesterday and still active, Hosanna Power is clearly a horse being kept busy. The hope will be that conditions and a race fall right at some point — but until the form figures start climbing back into single digits, it is hard to make a strong case for an imminent turnaround.
