Grizedale

The recent form is what really catches the eye. Reading it from left to right, his last six results go 2-3-7-12-1-1 — two wins on the bounce to close things out, the most recent of them coming just this week at Newbury on 9 July 2026. Before those victories there were a couple of forgettable runs, but the horse clearly found his feet again, and when he did, he did it emphatically.

His fondness for Kempton Park deserves a mention too. Two wins from three visits to that track is a genuinely impressive record — that's winning 2 in every 3 races at the course, which is the kind of stat that makes trainers keep coming back. Some horses simply suit a particular track, whether it's the layout, the surface, or the way the races tend to be run, and Kempton looks very much like Grizedale's happy hunting ground.

He is trained by Daniel and Claire Kubler, a husband-and-wife team based in Lambourn, Berkshire — one of British racing's great training villages. Their yard has sent out 34 winners this season alone, which tells you this is not a small operation run on hope. When trainer Daniel Kubler was talking about Grizedale back in mid-2025, he pointed to the horse's strong, physical frame and noted that his family tend to improve with age — exactly the kind of comment that, in hindsight, looks prescient.

The one question mark is at the top level of racing. Grizedale has yet to win any of his three attempts at Class 3 — one step below the very best races in Britain — going 0 from 3 at that level. Whether he can crack that ceiling is the next interesting chapter. Given he has just won back-to-back races and is reportedly in good form, you wouldn't bet against him having another try at it soon.
