Golden Circet

The last victory came back in July 2025 at Epsom Downs, over fifteen months ago now, and the form since has been thin. In the last six runs, there have been no wins — just a sequence of 5th, 8th, 8th, 6th, 5th and 4th place finishes. That's the pattern of a horse gradually sliding, though the most recent run, a fourth just a day ago, hints at a slight upturn. What keeps Golden Circet interesting is that it performs markedly better on normal ground, winning 2 of 9 races there (22%), and absolutely thrives at the middle distances of 1m1f to 1m2f, where it has won 2 from 6 (33%). Find those conditions again and there is still some life in this horse.

Trained by Jim and Suzi Best at their Lewes yard in East Sussex, Golden Circet operates mostly in Class 4 company, where it has yet to win a race. The yard itself is doing well this season with 13 winners already, which suggests the team knows how to prepare a horse for victory — the puzzle is finding the right race for this one. At six years old with a total career record that doesn't inspire confidence, Golden Circet is not a horse destined for the spotlight, but as long as it keeps finding normal ground and races over its preferred distances, it retains the ability to pick up another win or two before the wheels finally stop turning.
