Golden Circet raced just yesterday, so this is very much an active campaign, and Jim and Suzi Best's yard at Lewes in East Sussex are clearly keeping faith with the horse. That faith is not without foundation — the yard has sent out 13 winners already this season, so they know what a horse in form looks like, and they keep running this one.

What makes Golden Circet genuinely interesting is what the numbers reveal when you look more closely. On normal ground — not too wet, not too dry — it has won 2 of 7 races, which is a 29% win rate. That is a very strong return for any horse at any level. Even more striking is its record over distances between a mile and a furlong and a mile and two furlongs: 2 wins from just 4 races, a 50% win rate. In other words, get Golden Circet to the right track, in the right conditions, at the right distance, and you have a horse that wins half the time. The puzzle is that its most common level of competition — Class 4, which sits in the middle tier of British racing — has produced 0 wins from 8 attempts. That gap between potential and delivery at its typical level is the central mystery of this horse's career.

The last win came at Epsom Downs in July 2025, a course famous for its sharp bends and undulating straight, so Golden Circet has already won at one of Britain's most demanding tracks. Whether that winning feeling returns soon depends on the yard finding those ideal conditions again — but the raw ability, on its best days, is clearly there.
