General Assembly

The majority of General Assembly's racing life has been spent at Class 5 level, which is the bread-and-butter tier of British racing — competitive enough, but a long way from the glamour of the top prizes. At that level, the record reads three wins from 18 races, or roughly 1 in 6, which is actually a respectable ratio and suggests this is exactly where the horse is most comfortable and competitive. Find the right race at the right level, and General Assembly can get the job done.

The most recent win came at Chelmsford in November 2025, and it's now been six months without adding to that tally. The last six runs tell a story of a horse that's currently in a lean spell — finishing down the field more often than not, with only a second place to show for it in that stretch. The dash symbols in the recent form (10–-–-–2-6-7, most recent first) indicate some non-completions or withdrawn runs in there too, which complicates the picture slightly.

Clare Hobson trains the horse from her yard in Royston, Hertfordshire — a smaller operation that has sent out three winners so far this season. It's not a powerhouse stable, but Hobson clearly knows how to place her horses, and the fact that General Assembly got off the mark at Nottingham in May 2024 and has added wins since suggests there's a working relationship that has produced results before. The horse raced just yesterday, so it's bang in the middle of an active campaign. Whether that recent busy schedule is helping or hindering the search for a sixth career win remains to be seen — but with form figures trending in the wrong direction, finding the right opportunity soon will matter.
