Entailed

The recent form makes for interesting reading. Reading the last six runs from most recent back — 3, 6, 4, 3, 6, 1 — you can see a horse that finished in the top three twice in its last six outings, but has also had a couple of disappointing days. That kind of up-and-down pattern is fairly typical of a young horse still learning its trade, and at three years old, there is every reason to think the best is still to come.

At the level where Entailed typically competes — Class 4, which sits in the middle of the racing ladder — the record reads one win from four races, meaning the horse has won roughly one in every four attempts at that grade. That is a reasonable return and suggests Entailed is competitive without yet being dominant. The key question is whether a step up in class is in the cards, or whether more wins at this level will build the confidence needed to try something tougher.

The trainer is Gemma Tutty, based at Osmotherley in North Yorkshire, and the yard has been in fine form this season with 19 winners sent out. That is the kind of momentum that matters — horses from a yard firing on all cylinders tend to arrive at the track fit and ready, and Tutty clearly knows how to place her horses well. Entailed raced just one day ago, so the team is keeping this horse busy, which often signals confidence that the horse is in good shape.
