It says this is a horse operating at exactly the right level — not being thrown in too deep, not coasting below his class, just quietly doing his job.

The track that suits him best is Chelmsford, an all-weather oval in Essex not far from where he is trained. That kind of course preference is common in racing and worth knowing — some horses simply take to a particular track's shape or surface and run their best races there almost every time.
