Diligent Harry

The most striking thing in his record is what he has done at Newcastle. Three wins from just four visits is the kind of ratio that makes trainers book the horsebox before they have even entered a race. That is not a horse who happens to have won there — that is a horse who owns the place. His first career win came at Newcastle back in February 2023, and he returned in April of that year to win a Class 2, then again in June 2025 at Class 1 level. Some horses find a track that suits them. Diligent Harry has practically set up residence.

He has also developed a habit of winning at Lingfield Park on the all-weather surface, taking three Class 1 races there including back-to-back victories on 31 January and 21 February 2026. Winning consecutive top-level races in the space of three weeks is the kind of form that gets people talking, and his recent run of 1-1-14-5-1-5 — three wins from his last six races — confirms he is in the form of his life right now. The 14th-place finish in the middle of that sequence barely registers when the wins on either side of it are this good.

Clive Cox trains him from Lambourn, one of British racing's great training centres, and the yard has been in superb shape this season with 47 winners already. Rossa Ryan is the regular jockey, winning 2 of their 6 races together — roughly 1 in every 3 — which is a strong partnership at this level. Normal ground conditions clearly suit him best: six wins from 11 races on a standard surface, a remarkable 55% win rate that drops sharply on anything softer or firmer. After a short break of five weeks, Diligent Harry arrives at his next race fresh, in form, and with a very clear opinion about which tracks he likes.
