Dancing Tiger

The first win came at Goodwood in September 2025, and jockey Marco Ghiani described it in a way that is easy to picture: Dancing Tiger ended up in front almost by accident, the pace was slow, and he simply stayed there. He was comfortable, he was relaxed, and he galloped all the way to the line because nobody was asking him to do anything he did not want to do. It is a small but telling detail about his character — he is not a horse who battles back from behind, he is a horse who thrives when things are uncomplicated.

Then came Doncaster in March 2026, and this is where the story gets more interesting. Teal had that race circled on the calendar because of one factor above everything else: wet, soft ground underfoot. Dancing Tiger had been on the weaker side physically as a three-year-old, and the trainer was candid about that, but returning as a four-year-old with a specific target in mind, the plan worked exactly as hoped. At distances between a mile and a furlong and a mile and two furlongs, he has won 1 from 4 races — 25% — which is notably better than his overall record and confirms he finds his best form over that particular range.

He raced just yesterday, so he is very much in the middle of his season rather than looking back on one. Teal's yard has sent out 22 winners so far this campaign, which speaks to a team in decent form. With Dancing Tiger, though, everything depends on what the weather does. If the ground stays dry, patience will be required. If the clouds roll in and conditions soften, a horse that genuinely loves getting his feet in it could easily add to his tally before the summer is out.
