The real story here is Dalamara's love of Newcastle. It has won twice from four races there, making the track something of a happy hunting ground. That second Newcastle win came just this week, on 1 October, which suggests the horse is in good form right now after a race yesterday. The yard—trained by Ben Haslam at Middleham Moor in Yorkshire—has had a solid season with 35 winners sent out so far, and Dalamara appears to be contributing to that tally at exactly the right time.

Distance matters too. Over the 1m1f to 1m2f range, Dalamara wins roughly three races in every four—a remarkable win rate that shows this horse knows how to handle that specific stretch. It also clearly prefers normal ground conditions, winning two from five races on standard surfaces compared to a much thinner record elsewhere. The recent form reads 1-3-1-4-6-4, which means two wins in the last six races and plenty of place finishes in between. There's consistency here, but also volatility—the kind of pattern you get from a horse that is capable and improving but not yet entirely reliable.

At three years old, Dalamara is still developing. With just a quarter of its races converted to wins, there is obvious room for improvement, but the evidence from Newcastle and at its preferred distances suggests the talent is there.
