The most telling part of his profile is his form at Class 4 level, where he wins about one in every four races (three wins from eleven). Drop him into that grade and he becomes genuinely competitive, a horse worth backing. It is the next step up that has proved difficult: he won a Class 2 race at Uttoxeter in June 2024, showing he can operate at the sharper end, but that remains his only dip into the very top races. Most of his racing happens in more modest company, where his experience and age count for something.

Henry Oliver's yard at Abberley has handled him throughout, and the jockey David Noonan has ridden him regularly — they have three wins together from sixteen races, a win rate of 19%. Last September, Coastguard Station won at Market Rasen, but nothing has landed since then. That is twelve months without a victory, and his last six races tell the story of a horse slipping back down the form board: eighth, eighth, sixth, second, fourth, sixth. The second place hints that he is not entirely out of form, but the pattern is bleak.

At ten years old and with six career wins to his name, Coastguard Station belongs to the workhorse category — durable, experienced, and still racing regularly enough to suggest the team believes there is more to come. Whether he can find the winning thread again remains to be seen, but his form at Class 4 and that Class 2 victory at Uttoxeter prove he is not a horse of all talk and no action.
