Cinnodin

Trained by Jamie Snowden out of Lambourn in Berkshire, Cinnodin operates in a yard that has been firing on all cylinders, sending out 82 winners already this season. That kind of form from a stable tends to rub off on the horses in it. Snowden has spoken candidly about the challenge of placing Cinnodin — at one point noting that his horse was running so well he was struggling to find races with the right conditions for him, describing him as something of his own worst enemy in that regard. The solution, when conditions align, is a horse that genuinely delivers. He has been most regularly partnered by jockey Finley Marsh, and that combination has clicked: together they have won 5 from 18 races — a win rate of 28%, or better than one in every four. That is meaningfully higher than Cinnodin's overall record and suggests the partnership suits him.

Where this horse really comes alive is in longer races on wet or muddy ground. Over distances between a mile and six furlongs and two miles, he has won 5 from 14 — that is 36%, or more than one in every three. Narrow the lens further to races run on soft or heavy ground and he has won 2 from 6, a 33% hit rate. Both figures tell the same story: give him stamina-sapping conditions and room to stretch, and he becomes a different animal. Kempton Park seems to suit him particularly well too — two wins from six visits there, which is the kind of record that makes a trainer pencil it in first when entries open.

Cinnodin first won at Wolverhampton back in February 2023 and has been a reliable earner at Class 4 level ever since, winning 3 from 14 at that grade. He may never be a headline act, but on the right day, in the right conditions, he is exactly the sort of horse a knowledgeable friend would quietly tip you before racing.
