He is four years old and still very much in the thick of things — he raced just yesterday — with recent form that reads 12-6-2-1-10-7, working backwards from his latest run. That single win buried in the sequence came at Thirsk six weeks ago in May, his most recent victory, and it was on slightly soft ground, which is where he really comes alive. On wet or soft underfoot conditions he has won two of his five races, a 40% win rate that dwarfs his overall figure. In other words, when the rain comes, Brighton Boy becomes a much more serious proposition.
Tim Easterby's yard at Great Habton has sent out 128 winners this season alone, which gives a sense of the operation Brighton Boy is part of — this is a busy, high-performing stable that knows how to place a horse. Brighton Boy's first win came at Chester back in July 2024, and it is clearly a track the team has kept returning to with good reason. He has never threatened at the very highest level and his record against the best horses suggests that Class 2 competition might just be a step beyond his comfort zone. But on the right ground, around the right track, this is a horse who wins races — and that makes him well worth keeping an eye on when the conditions suit.
