Brave Byreflection

Those two wins tell an interesting story on their own. The first came at Kempton Park in November 2024, and the second at Chepstow in July 2025 — meaning Brave Byreflection has found winners at two very different tracks, which at least suggests some versatility. The Chepstow win, though, is now a year old, and the recent form makes for sobering reading: finishing 5th, 9th, 7th, 8th, 6th, and 12th in the last six races, with that 12th place the most recent result just a day ago. That's a horse going in the wrong direction, and any supporter will be hoping trainer James Evans — based at Kinnersley in Worcestershire — can find the key to turning things around.

Evans has sent out 8 winners this season, so there's clearly life in the yard. The question is whether Brave Byreflection can tap into that. Most of its racing has come at Class 4 level — a solid middle tier of British racing — where it has won just 1 from 7, or roughly 1 in every 7 attempts. That's a workmanlike record at a competitive but not elite level.

The one consistent bright spot is the partnership with jockey Kieran O'Neill, who has ridden the horse 9 times and been aboard for both wins. That's a win rate of 22%, or roughly 2 in every 9 rides together — comfortably the best numbers this horse produces under any circumstances. When O'Neill is in the saddle, Brave Byreflection is a different proposition. Whether that combination can click again after this difficult run of form is the real question worth watching.
