Grant Tuer's yard at Birkby, in North Yorkshire, has kept her in training through multiple sales — rare loyalty for a smaller mare — because she has a gift for finding winners. Tuer describes her as a horse who wears her heart on her sleeve, someone willing to battle on any ground, though she truly lights up on normal, standard conditions, where she has won 7 of her 16 races (44 per cent). She is built for distances between a mile and seven furlongs, and Tuer believes the shorter end of that range suits her best. Her most recent win came eight weeks ago at Chester, and her recent form — three wins in her last six races — shows she remains in the sort of form that makes her dangerous every time she lines up. With Oliver Stammers in the saddle for many of those victories (6 wins from 20 rides together), the partnership has developed real understanding. Stammers calls her a jockey's dream: the harder you ask, the more she gives. That toughness, that refusal to stop fighting, is what has kept Bellarchi winning into her fifth year.
