The four-year-old has already climbed to Class 2 level — one step below the very top races in Britain — and has handled the step up without blinking. Two wins from four races at that level, a 50% win rate, tells you this is a horse performing consistently at the sharp end. That includes a win at Newmarket in October 2024, one of the most prestigious venues in British racing, and most recently a win at Goodwood in July 2025. Goodwood is a uniquely tricky, undulating track on the Sussex Downs that has a habit of exposing horses that are short on class or balance — Ashariba clearly has neither problem.

The recent form figures of 1-1-1-5-7-1 (reading from oldest to newest) tell their own story. Three wins on the spin, a couple of quieter runs, then straight back to winning. That dip in form and return to winning is actually a healthy sign — it suggests a horse running within its limits rather than being flattered by weak fields, and one that bounces back when conditions suit. Four wins from the last six races is the kind of consistency that gets people excited.

Ashariba is trained by David Menuisier at his yard in Pulborough, West Sussex — and the operation is clearly in fine form, having sent out 25 winners already this season. Menuisier has a reputation for placing horses patiently and getting the best out of them, and Ashariba looks like a case study in exactly that approach.

The one question mark is the gap since that last win at Goodwood — 242 days, the best part of eight months. Long absences can sometimes take the edge off a horse returning to the track. But with a record this good and a trainer this sharp, the more interesting question is not whether Ashariba can win again — it is where they will aim next.
