On soft or heavy going, he has won 3 of his 8 races — that's 38%, or better than 1 in every 3 starts — which is a dramatically better record than on quicker surfaces. Plenty of horses tolerate wet ground; Amancio genuinely thrives on it. He also gets better the further he runs. Over two miles or more, he has won 2 of 7 races (29%), suggesting he appreciates being asked a real question about stamina.

His trainer Faye Bramley, based at Lambourn in Berkshire, has had 17 winners out of her yard this season alone, and Amancio has been one of her more consistent earners. Bramley has noted how unlucky he has been on occasion — he was beaten by just half a length by a horse called Tipsy Tiger at Sandown in one of his recent runs, a result that flatters neither horse given how tight the finish was. His first win came at Haydock Park back in April 2024, and his most recent at Carlisle in June 2026, so this is a horse that has kept delivering across two full seasons.

The practical reality is that Amancio is heading to the sales before long, and the team is keen to add another win to his record before he goes — which makes every run count right now. He raced just yesterday and is clearly being kept busy. At Class 4 level, where he competes most often, he has won 2 of his 11 races there (18%), which is a perfectly solid return. He is not a star, but he is the kind of honest, competitive horse that makes racing genuinely enjoyable to follow — always in the mix, rarely embarrassing himself, and capable of something better when the ground comes up soft.
